Under Armour @ Dillard's

Under Armour has developed a new testing methodology to help fight fiber shedding at its source and support progress toward the company’s sustainability goal for 75% of fabrics in its products to be made of low-shed materials by 2030. As fabric and textiles are produced, worn, and cleaned, they naturally shed fibers. These fiber fragments, also known as microplastics, can enter the air, waterways, and food chains. In high concentrations, they are believed to pollute the environment, disrupt ecosystems, and pose health risks to humans and animals when inhaled through the air or ingested via food and drinking water.

Entertainment:

Premiere Cinemas & IMAX

A commitment to sustainable practices the theater upgrades to laser projectors in 2024. The news makes Lubbock among the only cities in Texas to have actual laser-projection in a cinema, and Premiere is the only cinema in this part of the country to offer it. Says Joel Davis of Premiere, “It’s another fabulous-first for Lubbock and a place where technology and customer enjoyment intersect. This culminates several years of planning and execution and I think people in Lubbock will love it.” Updating to laser lowers the ecological footprint as well. Per Mr. Leal, “Not only have we dynamically improved the quality of the presentation, we’re generating a lot less heat and using less electricity than before, the lasers run cooler and quieter, and we no longer have to constantly replace xenon bulbs and dispose of the old ones like we did before.”
